Second Round of Night Shift
Hi!! I'm back!! Hahaha!!! Today and tomorrow I'm having rest day and day off. That's why I'm so eng to blog today. I'm gonna share with you what happened to me recently.
My 2nd round of night shift just ended on Tues. And had my sleeping day on Wed.
First day of night, Sun, there's a patient she's emotionally depressed as she lost her youngest son recently. And the other child is planning to swallow her inheritance alone. Thus not very mentally stable. So on this particular night, she sudd woke up and shouted "FIRE!! FIRE!!!" and wanting to jump out of the bed. But fortunately, her maid was there to hold onto her. Thus heng.. no fall. She was brought to the cubicle just in front of the nurses' station.
Second night. This old lady wants to pee. Asked for a commode. So I gave her. After peeing, I helped her to wear her pants as she has left-sided weakness (but not totally dependant) and needed assistance. So I helped. But her right leg was stepping onto the pants. Thus I helped her pull up. Then her left side cannot tahan and wanted to fall. But I was there to hold her. Not letting her touch the floor. Just the height of the bed. But she said she wanna sit down. So I slowly put her down onto the floor. Then she say: "You no strength. Go ask someone to help"(By the way, she's a difficult patient and very sarcastic - we all don't like her).
Okie, So I go get help from my junior. She came and asked the patient: "What happened?" Patient:"I fell"(WTH!). Then helped her up onto the bed and took her parameters and all - nth of abnormalities. We told my SN. She came and asked the patient if she fell or that I helped her sat on the floor. Then the patient say is sat on the floor. WTH rite?? The 2 things that straight away fail PRCP is medication error and patient fell... know why I'm so angry with her alr?? She LIED. And if my Sister or Preceptor believed it, I can fail this attachment. And I have to suffer another 3 mths of PRCP again. NO MAN!!! RARRH!!!!
Third night. 2 patients had fever. 1 from my room and another from my SN's. So asked the stupid HO (housemen - lowest "rank" of doc) to take blood C/S (culture and sensitivity). Then the HO.. zzz. Broke sterilty, stupidly pour the whole cleaning solution directly on the patient's arm w/o using cotton balls. -.- Bla bla. I don't understand how he pass his skills.
After that my SN's patient sudd went gaga. Got restless. So we restraint her. And put her bed at the nurses station there so that we can monitor her. Then she shouted as if we kidnapped her: "Why are you harming me?", "I'm 79yrs old, I got no money", "I wanna go home, my son is waiting for me"(in the middle of the night?? ya right. We can't even get thr her son and daughter's no) "Why did you tie my up? I'll call the cops", "HELPPPPPPPP!!!!"(She really shout until the B2 side can hear, really kua zhang. The B2 side nurse told us de). I really feel like taping her mouth. Hahaha!! So informed MO (medical officer - 2nd "rank" for doc), since the HO really cmi. Mo came and ordered Haloperidol (use for emotionally unstable pts - commonly seen in IMH). But no use. She still shout and shout. So increase dose. Better, but still got shout - on and off. So in the morning, we put her back into the cubicle.
What a night.
In the first night, I touch an MRSA nasal patient w/o knowing she's MRSA. zzz. Helped her changed diapers. Got quite scared cuz if I have MRSA might need isolation, depending on which MRSA I have and some might even spread to other organs and die.Then after that my hands very itchy. So scratch and scratch. And it's red red with small dots dots dots. Hahaha!! Then at night very itchy. I was scared. Asked another SN. She told me I'm allergic to alcohol handrub. The other SN also like that. So I talked to the other SN. She told her her experience and all. And okie, it's like spreading. I'm gonna go see doc now. So ttyl. Byeeee!!!
